KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Mike Skrocki scored a game-high 16 points to lead Richmond past San Francisco 66-59 Monday night in the semifinals of the Guardians Classic.
Richmond (3-0) will play either Southwest Missouri State or South Carolina for the championship on Tuesday.
Center Kevin Steenberge scored 11 points for the Spiders, who only had two players in double figures.
Jovan Harris led the Dons (2-2) with 14 points. Tyrone Riley had 11 and Alvin Broussard Jr. added 10.
Down 51-34 with 13:21 remaining, the Dons rallied to within two, as Broussard's driving shot make it 59-57 with 2:40 left.
But Richmond then got a pair of free throws from Skrocki, a senior guard who has led the Spiders in scoring in each of their first three games, and a bucket from Tony Dobbins with 1:20 left to put the game away.
Monday night's game brought the Dons back to Kansas City's Municipal Auditorium, where they won the 1955 NCAA championship by beating La Salle 77-63, a game in which Bill Russell and K.C. Jones combined to score 47 points.
San Francisco was without guard John Cox, who is out four to six weeks after injuring his knee in the Dons' season-opening victory over Tennessee-Martin.
