RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Mike Skrocki scored 10 of his 16 points during two Richmond spurts Wednesday to lead the Spiders to a 70-52 win over Virginia Commonwealth.
The Spiders (4-2) scored 10 straight points - five by Skrocki - late in the first half en route to a 31-23 halftime lead.
The Rams (3-1) pulled to 45-41 on Michael Doles' layup with 12:26 remaining. A layup by Skrocki began a 9-0 Richmond run over the next six minutes. Skrocki also had a 3-pointer during the run.
The Rams never got closer than nine points.
Tony Dobbins had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Daon Merritt added 14 points and Kevin Steenberge had 12.
Troy Godwin led the Rams with 14 points, while Domonic Jones and Doles added 13 each.
NOTES
* The 18-point margin matched the Spiders largest in the series.
* Mike Skrocki scored in double figures for the sixth straight game.
* Tony Dobbins recorded his second consecutive double-double.
* Daon Merritt equaled his career high with 12 points.
* Five starters scored 63 of Spiders' 70 points.
