Men's Basketball Clobbers Colorado

BOULDER, Colo. - Mike Skrocki scored 20 points, including 5-of-7 shooting from 3-point range, and Richmond pulled away from Colorado late in the game for a 75-62 win on Wednesday.
Richmond (7-5) outscored Colorado 26-12 over the last nine minutes after Colorado had rallied to take a 50-49 lead.
Tony Dobbins added 11 points and 10 rebounds for Richmond, and Gaston Moliva had 10 points and nine rebounds.
David Harrison had 18 points and 11 rebounds for Colorado (6-3). Blair Wilson scored 12 points, and Lamar Harris had 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Richmond, playing a smothering defense, outshot Colorado 52 percent to 35 percent in the second half. For the game, the Spiders were 9-of-16 on 3-pointers compared to Colorado's 1-of-9.
Colorado, which trailed 35-30 at halftime, scored the first seven points of the second half, and neither team led by more than four points for the next 10 minutes.
Harris had two baskets, including a layup that gave the Buffaloes a 50-49 lead with 9:28 remaining.
The Spiders responded with a 15-4 run and never trailed again.
Dobbins hit a basket in the lane and Patrick O'Malley made a jumper. After two free throws by Harrison, Daon Merritt made two free throws and and Skrocki a short jumper for a 57-52 lead. Skrocki added a pair of 3-pointers down the stretch, the last making it 67-55 with 2:29 to go.
Harrison, Colorado's 7-foot junior center, landed hard on a rebound attempt late in the game and apparently bruised his right shoulder.
Richmond built a nine-point lead in the first half.
The Spiders jumped out to a 7-0 lead, including Reggie Brown's 3-pointer. Colorado pulled into an 8-8 tie on Harrison's layup, but Richmond built a lead again.
O'Malley's 3-pointer and Moliva's 17-foot jumper made it 20-12 with 9:03 left in the half. Jermaine Bucknor's 3-pointer pushed the lead to 23-14.
Harrison's layup capped a 6-0 run and cut the lead to 26-23, but the Spiders pulled away again on Skrocki's 3-pointer and back-to-back baskets by Moliva and Bucknor.
