Women's Soccer Loads Up On Postseason Honors

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.-Three student-athletes from the University of Richmond's women's soccer team were named to the All Mid-Atlantic Soccer Teams today, as announced by the Soccer Coaches Association of America. Seniors Megan Cox (Raleigh, N.C.) and Edda Gardarsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland) and junior Meghan Ogilvie (Springfield, Va.) are among the recipients.
Honored as the second team goalkeeper, Cox started 21 matches in the goal this season. She ranked eighth in the conference with 73 saves and accumulated 177 career saves to earn the second-place mark for career saves in Richmond's history books. Posting a 1.10 GAA, which ranks third for the program's single season mark, she led the league with seven shutouts. She clinched a fifth-place mark for single season shutouts and ranks second in career standings (17). She was an A-10 Player of the Week and All-Conference first team selection.
Gardarsdottir earned second team honors after accumulating six assists to lead the team and ranked fifth in the conference during her senior campaign. She shares a second-place mark in career assists (19) among all-time Spiders and claimed the sixth-place notch of all-time points recorded at 41. She scored three goals, including two game-winners, garnered A-10 Player of the Week honors (10/6) and was named to the All-Conference first team.
Named to the third team, Ogilvie started in 21 of 22 games. She matched a career-high four goals and tallied a career-high four assists, while registering two game-winners. She took 29 career-marking shots and was named to the A-10 Championship team.
