WASHINGTON (AP) - Chris Monroe scored 14 points, and T.J. Thompson added 10 points and six assists as George Washington broke a three-game losing streak to beat Richmond 64-50 Sunday.
The Colonials improved to 9-13 and 3-8 in the Atlantic 10. Richmond (12-10, 6-5) lost its fourth straight and had its lowest scoring output of the season. The Spiders have scored no more than 55 points during their four-game slide.
Mike Skrocki and Jamaal Scott each scored 14 points to lead the Spiders, who made just 10 of 21 free throws.
George Washington, in its best defensive outing of the year, led 33-24 at halftime and took a 50-31 lead with 10:20 to go on a basket by Thompson. The Colonials led by at least 12 the rest of the way.
Mike Hall added nine points and eight rebounds for the Colonials. The game, played during a massive snowstorm that hit the nation's capital, drew just 1,059 fans to the on-campus Smith Center.
