
Women's Golf In Fifth After Day One

MIDLOTHIAN, Va. -- University of Richmond freshman Lauren Ritter carded a first round 81 and is tied for ninth after the first day of competition at the inaugural CAA Women's Golf Championship.
Playing at the par-72 Salisbury Country Club, the Spiders combined for a first-round 340, fifth in the six-team event. Richmond is only one stroke behind fourth-place Hofstra. James Madison leads the championship after firing a first-round 305.
Freshman Elizabeth Cushing finished two strokes behind Ritter and is tied for 13th. Her 83 was three shots better than freshman Lesley Monachino's 86 which tied for 20th. Freshman Whitney McComis (90/26th) and sophomore Kristen Folgosa (93/30th) also competed for Richmond.
James Madison's Carol Green fired a three-under-par 69 to lead by four strokes over Xavier's Sarah Sparks.
The second round will by played on Monday, April 21, while the final round will be played on Tuesday, April 22.
