MIDLOTHIAN, Va. -- University of Richmond freshman Lesley Monachino carded the lowest round in program history, 77, to lead the Spiders in the team's lowest-ever round, 329, during day two at the inaugural CAA women's golf championships.
Richmond's second-round 329 at the Salisbury Country Club, combined with its first-round 340, moved the Spiders into fourth place. James Madison maintained its overall lead, adding a second-round 317 to the first-round 305.
Monachino's 77 was one-stroke better than her previous team-low round that she established during the Lady Kat Invitational on Sept. 13. That first-round also led Richmond to its previous low-score, 330.
Following Monachino's record-setting afternoon was freshman Elizabeth Cushing who fired a second-round 80 to increase her tournament total to 163. The duo is currently tied for ninth.
Classmate Lauren Ritter, who's 81 was the lowest Spider score in the first round, shot 86 today and is tied for 15th. Freshman Whitney McComis carded an 86 and sophomore Kristen Folgosa shot a 90 in the second round.
James Madison's Carol Green leads the individual competition with a 69-80--149 after two rounds.
The final round will be played tomorrow.
