Richmond's Julee Wilson Breaks Two Records

DURHAM, N.C. - Junior Julee Wilson (Chester Springs, Pa.) broke two of her own records at the Duke Invitational. Wilson sprinted to a 12.49 100-meter dash to break the record by .01 of a second. Later in the day, she finished 11th in the 200-meter dash to claim her second record with a time of 25.47. Wilson held both of these records from the 2002 outdoor season.
Joining Wilson, freshman Amy Thesing (Columbia, S.C.) took silver in the 800-meter run (2:19.51). Running in the seeded 800-meter, freshman Danielle Eaton (Malvern, Pa.) crossed the finish line in 2:14.66. Erin Kubarewicz (Bloomfield, N.J.) finished out the rookie honors in the top Spider spot with 5:04.65 in the 1500-meter.
Senior Katie Sloan (Severna Park, Md.) also earned a top-ten finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Sloan tackled the course in 11:31.79 for sixth place.
In the field events, senior Rachel Shrewsbury (Dearborn, Mich.) tossed the shot for 43'03.25" to take the fifth spot. Teammate junior Diane Schreiber (Johnsonburg, Pa.) followed finishing eighth with 42'00.50".
On the men's side, junior Kevin Rhue (Virginia Beach, Va.) ran a 3:53.76 1500-meter seeded race for ninth. On the field, senior Josh Fralick (Satellite, Fla.) threw the javelin for 171'02" to take fifth, the highest men's finish of the meet.
Richmond track and field returns to action on Saturday, April 12 at the Lou Onesty Invitational in Charlottesville, Va.
