UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond department of athletics announced today that Abby Kingston has signed a National Letter of Intent to join LaRee Sugg's women's golf program.
An All-State performer as a senior, Kingston qualified for the Pennsylvania High School Tournament all four years at Moravian Academy. Her most impressive amateur performance came last July at the 2002 AJGA Fieldstone where she finished seventh.
"Abby will be an asset to our golf program next fall," Sugg said. "She is a well-rounded individual with tremendous natural ability. She will bring many wonderful qualities to our team."
Kingston placed seventh at the 2002 Pennsylvania High School Tournament and was a three-time District runner-up. She earned team MVP honors as a junior. Her brother, Doug, will be a junior on the University of North Carolina golf team next year.
A native of Bethlehem, Pa., Kingston was a four-year starter on the Moravian basketball team and was selected team MVP during her senior season. An all-around talent, Kingston is also an accomplished singer and dancer.
