UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Richmond women's golf head coach LaRee Sugg and sophomore Whitney McComis shared their knowledge - and their swing - at the NCAA Youth Education through Sports (YES) Clinic on May 19 in West Lafayette, Ind.
The event, aimed to help area youth with golf and life lessons, was held in conjunction with the NCAA Women's Golf Championship. Sugg and McComis were instructors to the more than 60 participants between the ages of 10 and 18.
"This was a wonderful program to be a part of," Sugg said. "The chance to bring golf to local students, and expose them to the highest level of collegiate competition, was a very rewarding experience."
"It felt great to give those kids the opportunity to try something new that they might pursue in college, or just to show them how much fun golf can be," McComis said. "I really hope that I was able to spark some interest in the game of golf, because I want as many kids as possible to have the same opportunities that I have had."
