
Women's Golf Signs Lauren Brown to NLI

The University of Richmond department of athletics announced today that Lauren Brown has signed a National Letter of Intent to join head coach LaRee Sugg's women's golf program for the 2003-04 season.
A two-time All-State honoree and recipient of the First Tee Scholarship, Brown earned Team MVP honors her final three years at Horizon High School. The Phoenix, Ariz. native participated in numerous USGA qualfiers, AJGA events and was a Junior World participant in 2001 and 2002. A Scottsdale East Valley Tribune First Team honoree as a junior, Brown finished third at the 2002 junior girls state championship.
"Lauren combines a power game with an ability to shoot low numbers," Sugg said. "She is a tough competitor who has grown up competing against the best players on the West Coast. I like that she is not afraid to step out of her comfort zone as she has demonstrated by attempting to qualify for LPGA events."
