
Women's Golf Finishes 15th At Cougar Classic

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The University of Richmond women's golf team completed the best tournament in its two-year history this afternoon, carding a three-round 969 (326-321-322) and finishing 15th at the inaugural Cougar Classic in Charleston, S.C. The Spiders' second-round 321 also established a record for lowest team round.
Freshman Ashley Lambert broke another program mark at this record-setting event, played at Yeamans Hall Golf Club, shooting a program-low, three-round 230 (80-74-76) and tying for 27th. Her second-round 74 matched classmate Lauren Brown's first-round effort, recording a new mark for individual low round.
Brown followed her 74 and 81 with a third-round 82 to finish her first collegiate event at 237, tied for 48th.
Sophomores Whitney McComis (88-81-84-253/80th), Lauren Ritter (88-85-82-255/T-82nd) and Elizabeth Cushing (84-90-82-256/T-84th) also competed in Richmond's first tournament of the fall.
Notre Dame won the team title after carding an 889 (285-304-300), while Miami's Tina Miller earned the individual medal with a three-round 214 (70-69-75).
The Spiders return to action at the Princeton Invitational from Sept. 26-28 in Princeton, N.J.
