UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND - Freshman Ashley Lambert and her teammates begin varsity competition on Sunday, Sept. 6 with a dual match against Virginia. Lambert looks to continue the stellar play that carried her to the Florida Amateur women's title in July.
Following graduation from Cardinal Mooney, the Bradenton, Fla. native spent her summer playing a few tournaments, but none as special as the one that catapulted her into state legend.
By firing a final round 69 in Lake Buena Vista, Lambert solidified herself as the top women's amateur golfer in Florida. Facing 80 other participants, Lambert shot matching 74s in the first round and was one stroke off the lead heading into the final round. After a 34 on the front nine, Lambert birdied two holes and came home with pars to win.
