Women's Golf Opens Fall Season

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- The University of Richmond women's golf team opened its 2003-04 season with a dual match against Virginia today at Birdwood Golf Course. The Cavaliers posted a team score of 302, while the Spiders finished with a 329.
Freshmen Ashley Lambert and Lauren Brown both carded an 81 to lead the Spiders. Virginia's Sall Shonk shot the lowest round of the day, firing a 75.
"I was extremely proud of my Spiders today," head coach LaRee Sugg said. "They showed great improvement from last season. Today, we matched last year's lowest team score. It is only a matter of time before we reach our full potential.
"I was especially impressed with the performance of our freshmen Lauren Brown, and Ashley Lambert. Both show great promise and are capable of becoming top players in the conference."
