Women's Soccer Shuts Out Saint Bonaventure 1-0

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Freshman Ali LeVIne scored off a corner kick shortly into the second half to lead the University of Richmond women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Saint Bonaventure tonight at First Market Stadium. The Spiders improve to 6-5-1, 4-2-0 against Atlantic 10 opponents while the Bonnies fall to 8-7-0, 1-5-0 in the league.
Richmond's six seniors were recognized in a brief pre-game ceremony during Senior Night.
The Spiders had their best scoring opportunity in the first half when consecutive shots by seniors Meghan Ogilvie and Olina Vidarsdottir hit the crossbar and post, respectively.
At the 46:48 point, the Spiders took a 1-0 advantage when LeVine scored off a corner kick. Vidarsdottir was credited with the assist.
Richmond held a 24-4 advantage in shots, attempting 12 in each half. The Spiders also had an 8-1 edge in corner kicks.
Senior Megan Cox (Raleigh, N.C.) recorded four saves in the net for the Spiders while St. Bonaventure goalkeeper Lisa Eberhart stopped 13 shots.
Each team received two yellow cards during the contest.
The Spiders play their final home game of the season on Sunday, October 17 when they host Duquesne at 1:00 p.m.
