UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond women's soccer team concludes its regular season this weekend with contests at Saint Joseph's and Temple, both in Philadelphia. If the Spiders win both contests, they will claim the #2 seed in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championships and earn the first-round bye.
Richmond (8-6-1, 6-3-0) split last weekend's contests, falling 2-1 at #27 Dayton before shutting out Xavier 2-0. The Spiders moved up three spots in Soccer Buzz's Regional Top 15 as they hold the #12 spot in this week's Mid-Atlantic regional rankings.
Saint Joseph's (6-10-1, 4-4-1) is currently tied for fifth place in the Atlantic 10 and is looking to secure its spot among the league's top six teams and qualify for the championships. Six players have scored two or more goals for the Hawks with Ali Wean leading the squad with three.
The teams have met three times with Richmond leading the series 3-0-0. Saint Joseph's has never scored a goal against the Spiders.
Temple (4-12-1, 1-7-1) was last in action on Sunday afternoon, tying Saint Bonaventure after forcing overtime from a goal with under two minutes remaining in regulation. Senior goalkeeper Jackie Mauro leads the conference in saves with 100.
Richmond and Temple have met three times and the Spiders have won every contest. Last year, the Spiders recorded a 2-0 win.
