UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond women's soccer team continues Atlantic 10 conference play this weekend when they play Massachusetts on Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. and then face Rhode Island on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Live stats are available for both contests via the Richmond website.
The Spiders (4-4-1, 2-1-0) won their last two games, shutting out conference opponents Fordham and La Salle. Seniors Meghan Ogilvie, Whitney Sikes and Olina Vidarsdottir have each tallied two goals with both of Sikes' being game-winners.
Massachusetts (3-6-0, 1-2-0) last recorded a 2-1 overtime win over Temple. Freshman Britt Canfield leads the team with five goals, scoring three in last week's two games.
Richmond and Massachusetts have played three times and the Spiders have won all three games. Last year, the Spiders recorded a 2-1 win in double overtime at First Market Stadium.
Rhode Island (6-6-0, 3-0-0) is coming off a 2-1 overtime win over Saint Joseph's. The Rams are led by junior Melanie Kasparek, the reigning Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, who has tallied seven goals. She recorded a hat trick in Rhode Island's 5-0 win over Temple last week.
After five meetings, the Spiders hold a 3-2 advantage in the series with Rhode Island. In the last meeting, Richmond defeated the Rams 2-1 in overtime in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Championships at UR Stadium.
