Women's Soccer Earns Atlantic 10 Accolades

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Five University of Richmond women's soccer players were honored by the Atlantic 10 as announced last night prior to the start of the 2004 Atlantic 10 Championships. Junior Hillary Prince (Plano, Texas) was honored to the first team while senior Meghan Ogilvie (Springfield, Va.) and sophomore Alex Twellman (Chesterfield, Mo.) were named to the second team. In addition, freshman Carrie Holland was named to the All-Rookie Team and senior Olina Vidarsdottir (Grindavik, Iceland) received All-Academic honors.
Prince, a back, appeared in all 17 regular season-contests for the Spiders and tallied three goals. She was named to the VCU/Alltel All-Tournament team and scored the game-winner against cross-town rival VCU (8/29). She added one assist and was a key part of the Richmond defense that posted a 0.87 GAA and recorded eight shutouts.
Ogilvie started all 17 contests in the Spiders' midfield and tallied three goals. As a team tri-captain, she scored the game-winning goal against Massachusetts (10/8) and added two assists during the regular-season.
At back, Twellman started 15 contests for the Spiders. She was a key part of the Richmond defense that posted a 0.87 GAA and recorded eight shutouts.
Holland, a forward, appeared in 17 games and tallied two goals and two assists. She scored the game-winning goal in Richmond's win over #7 Tennessee and earned two conference Rookie of the Week honors and one Player of the Week recognition.
Vidarsdottir started all 17 contests in the midfield position. A team tri-captain, she scored three goals and recorded two assists. She currently posts a 3.52 GPA and is majoring in psychology.
