Skrocki And Dobbins Earn NABC All-District

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- University of Richmond seniors Mike Skrocki and Tony Dobbins earned 2004 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division I All-District Team honors, as selected by members of the organization, it was announced today.
Skrocki, named to the District 4 First Team, leads the Spiders and ranks ninth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring (16.3 ppg). He has reached double-figures in all 25 games this winter. The Howell, N.J. native is 16th all-time in scoring at Richmond (1,289 points) and has started 90 consecutive games. The 6-6 forward has eclipsed the 20-point plateau six times this season, including a season-high 24 points against Duquesne on Jan. 3.
Last year's Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year, Dobbins ranks fourth in the Atlantic 10 with 8.0 rebounds and 2.48 steals per game. Named to the District 4 Second Team, Dobbins is second on the team in scoring (11.1 ppg) and is tied for the team lead with 65 assists. A 6-4 guard from Mitchellville, Md., Dobbins drained the game-winning jumper with 1.3 seconds remaining to defeat #10 Kansas on Jan. 22.
Skrocki was joined on the District 4 First Team by Bryant Matthews (Virginia Tech), Adam Hess (William & Mary), Alex Loughton (Old Dominion) and Domonic Jones (VCU). Dobbins was joined on the Second Team by Gerald Riley (Georgetown), T.J. Thompson (George Washington), Mark Davis (George Mason) and D'or Fischer (West Virginia).
The 150 student-athletes recognized in the 15 districts are now eligible for the NABC Division I All-American Team that will be announced at the end of the 2003-04 season.
