
Dayton Downs Richmond In OT

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Mark Jones made a 22-footer with nine seconds left to tie at the end of regulation, and Monty Scott made three free throws in the final 11 seconds of overtime to give Dayton a 62-57 victory over Richmond on Wednesday night.
Jones finished with 16 points for Dayton (18-3, 8-0 Atlantic 10). The Flyers' Keith Waleskowski led all scorers with 21 points.
Mike Skrocki had 19 points for Richmond (12-9, 4-4), and Tony Dobbins added 15.
The game was played on the 100th anniversary of Dayton's first varsity game. The school was known as St. Mary's Institute then.
Dayton led 28-22 at halftime and held Richmond at bay until the final minute. The Spiders took the lead at 52-51 on a jumper by Skrocki, and Dobbins made two free throws with 17 seconds. Jones' 3-pointer made it 54-all.
Waleskowski put Dayton ahead for good with a layup with 1:06 to play. Ramod Marshall, who missed most of the second half with leg cramps, made two free throws for Dayton with eleven seconds to play to secure Dayton's victory.
The Spiders are now tied for third in the A-10 West with Duquesne. The teams meet Saturday in Pittsburgh at 7pm.
