Derek Duclos Earns Three Pitcher of the Week Honors

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - University of Richmond student-athlete Derek Duclos was selected as the Louisville Slugger Collegiate Baseball, National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week, released today. The Exton, Pa. native threw for Richmond's first no-hitter since 1957.
The right-hander, combined with teammate Matt McLoughlin (Del, Mar, Calif.) for a 2-0 shutout against Coastal Carolina, on Sunday, in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The junior finished the game after pitching six innings, facing 21 batters, allowing no runs and striking out six. Duclos posts a 2-0 record for the season and leads the pitching squad with a .68 ERA.
The Spiders (5-1) closed out the Baseball at the Beach Tournament, having defeated Kent State, 6-4 and Coastal Carolina, 2-0, on Sunday and losing to Ohio State, 7-6, on Saturday.
Richmond returns to the field for the home debut at Pitt Field, Tuesday, March 2 when they face the University of Virginia at 2:30 p.m.
