Men's Hoops Flies Past Fordham, 67-47

DAYTON, Ohio - Reggie Brown hit three consecutive 3-pointers in a 16-6 run to lead Richmond to a 67-47 win over Fordham on Wednesday in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament.
The Spiders (19-11) advance to meet Temple (15-12) in a Thursday night quarterfinal at the University of Dayton Arena.
Brown, averaging 7.2 points a game, led the Spiders with 15 points. Jermaine Bucknor added 12, Mike Skrocki had 11 and Gaston Moliva 10 for Richmond, which has won six of its last seven games.
Michael Haynes had 20 points and Mark Jarrell-Wright 11 for Fordham (6-22), which tripled its win total from a year ago but ended the season by losing 13 of its last 15.
With the score tied at 18 late in the first half, the Spiders scored 16 of the next 22 points over the final four minutes of the first half and the first three minutes of the second.
After Bucknor hit a 3-pointer, Brown closed the half by hitting his next two shots behind the arc to give the Spiders a 29-24 lead at the break. Brown then opened the second half by hitting another 3 from the top of the key. Moliva's short jumper made it 34-24 as Fordham went scoreless for almost five minutes before Mushon Ya'akosi scored inside at the 16:32 mark.
Richmond then pulled away with a 9-0 run - Bucknor scoring five points - later in the half.
The Spiders won the previous meeting this season 74-53.
