Women's Basketball Earns Post-Season Accolades

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.- Junior Kate Flavin, sophomore Saona Chapman and freshman Christina Campion of the University of Richmond women's basketball team earned Atlantic 10 All-Conference honors, it was announced by the conference at the pre-tournament banquet.
Flavin (Englewood, Colo.) received her third consecutive post-season accolade with her selection to the All-Conference First Team. Last season, Flavin was named to the Second Team, while being honored on the All-Rookie Team in 2001-02. In 27 games, Flavin leads the team and ranks third in the conference with 18.6 points and is first in the A-10 with 9.3 rebounds per game. Nationally, she is ranked 10th in field goal percentage (59.9) and 39th in points per game.
Chapman (Voluntown, Conn.) earned All-Conference Second Team honors in her first season with the Spiders. Chapman ranks ninth in the conference averaging 13.7 points and sank a team-high 52 threes. She currently ranks 44th nationally and fourth in the conference with 141 assists.
Campion (Hamilton Square, N.J.) garnered her All-Rookie selection after posting an average of 9.1 points and 6.3 rebounds. Campion also recorded two collegiate double-doubles and earned A-10 Rookie of the Week on March 1st.
The Spiders finished second in the Atlantic 10 West Division and opens A-10 tournament play at 6 p.m. on Saturday night against the winner of Friday's first-round game between Dayton (3-24, 1-15) and Rhode Island (15-12, 8-8). Saturday night's quarterfinal will be broadcast live on WXGI-AM 950.
