Track And Field Finishes Big At Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Seniors Diane Schreiber and Lindsey Smith set new standards at the biggest track and field meet so far this season, the Penn Relays. Schreiber and Smith broke school records, while Caramore qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships.
Schreiber (Johnsonburg, Pa.) set a new school record of 45' 10.75" and tied for eighth-place in the College Women's Shot Put Event. Her effort broke Rachel Schrewsbury's mark of 45' 09" set in 2002.
Smith (Pottsville, Pa.) placed second overall in the College Women's Javelin with a new school record of 149'06", previously 144'00" and improving her ranking within the NCAA. Freshman Beth Crocus (Bethlehem, Pa.) placed 18th in the same event with a throw of 129-02.
Caramore (East Greenbush, N.Y.) ran 9:06.61 to qualify for the NCAA Regional Championships and placed eighth in the College Men's 3000M Steeplechase. His time improves his personal best of 9:10.45 set at the Duke Relays on April 3rd.
Senior Lyndsey Webber (Sayville, N.Y.) ran 17:23.36 to claim 24th-place in the 5000M, while Nicole Kurtain (Hamilton, N.J.) ran 17:51.49 in the same event.
The Spiders host the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships on Saturday, May 1st and Sunday May, 2nd at Sports Backers Stadium.
