UNIVERSITY OR RICHMOND, Va. - With four NCAA Regional qualifiers set, the University of Richmond men's and women's track and field teams turn their attention to claiming the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field crowns this weekend, Saturday, May 1st and Sunday, May 2nd at Sports Backers Stadium.
Senior Tim Caramore (East Greenbush, N.Y.), this week's conference co-Performer of the Week, earned All-Conference accolades in the 3000M steeplechase and as a member of the 4x800M relay team in the 2003 Championships. He currently has the fastest 3000M steeplechase time (9:06.61) in the conference and looks to lead the men's team.
On the women's side, freshmen throwers Lindsey Smith (Pottsville, Pa.) and Beth Crocus (Bethlehem, Pa.) lead the conference in the javelin with distances of 149-6 and 142-4, respectively. Both have qualified for the NCAA Regionals in that event.
Last year the men finished seventh, while the women were runners-up. The first day of the Championship will begin at 9:00am on Saturday, May 1 with the women's heptathlon. On Sunday, May 2, the men's decathlon begins the second day of competition at 8:45am. For the schedule of events, click here.
