Women's Soccer Earns A-10 Preseason Accolades

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Four University of Richmond women's soccer players were named to the Atlantic 10 preseason All-Conference team as announced today by the league. Seniors Megan Cox and Meghan Ogilvie, both members of the 2003 All-Conference first team, and sophomores Brooke Binswanger and Dani Amarant, both 2003 All-Rookie team honorees, were recognized in the voting done by the conference's head coaches. In addition, the Spiders had one freshman selected to the All-Rookie team.
Cox (Raleigh, N.C.) appeared in 21 games last year and earned 20 starts in the goal. She led the conference in shutouts (seven) and posted a GAA of 1.10. She was named to the NSCAA/adidas All-Mid-Atlantic second team and earned conference All-Academic team honors.
Ogilvie (Springfield, Va.) scored four goals and added four assists while starting 21 games last season. The midfielder was honored to the NSCAA/adidas All-Mid-Atlantic third team and selected to the A-10 All-Championship squad.
As a freshman last year, Binswanger (Memphis, Tenn.) led the team in scoring with eight goals and contributed two assists. She set a new program mark, scoring goals in five consecutive contests, and was named to Soccer Buzz's All-Mid-Atlantic Rookie team.
At back, Amarant (Danville, Calif.) started 18 contests and recorded a pair of assists. In addition, she was named to the All-Championship squad.
Freshman Carrie Holland (Pittsfield, Mass.) holds the Saint Joseph's High School record for career points (178) and goals (78).
The Spiders play their season-opener against James Madison at First Market Stadium on Friday, August 27.
