DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Warren Williams scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds in Dayton's 63-62 victory over Richmond on Wednesday.
Norman Plummer and Brian Roberts also scored 14 points apiece for the Flyers (8-5, 1-1 Atlantic 10), who held off the Spiders down the stretch in a game that featured 19 lead changes and 13 ties.
Roberts broke a 55-all tie with a jumper and Williams added a layup to give Dayton a four-point lead with 2:52 left.
Richmond's Jermaine Bucknor hit a 3-pointer to cut it to 63-62 with six seconds remaining. Roberts missed two free throws on the other end but Daon Merritt missed a long shot that would have won the game for the Spiders at the buzzer.
Merritt finished with 19 points and Steenberge had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Richmond (5-8, 0-2). Bucknor also had 11 points.
The Flyers outrebounded the Spiders 33-30 and shot 63 percent from the field in the second half. They finished at 43 percent for the game.
