Women's Basketball Faces Saint Joseph's

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond women's basketball team looks to earn its first regular season conference win over Saint Joseph's in the Robins Center on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on WRNL 910 AM and on the internet at www.richmondspiders.com.
The Spiders (15-3, 6-2 A-10) rebounded from the back-to-back conference losses and defeated Duquesne 61-50 on Thursday night in Pittsburgh.
Senior Kate Flavin is leading the league in rebounds against conference schools, grabbing 10.3 per outing.
Saint Joseph's (4-15, 2-5) is looking for its fifth win of the season and is ranked last in the conference in scoring offense. Sophomore guard Ayahna Cornish leads the Hawks in scoring with 12.0 points per game and is the only player averaging double-figures in the scoring column.
GAME NOTES
THE MATCH-UP
The Spiders look to win their second straight conference contest when they host Saint Joseph's on Sunday afternoon. The Hawks have won just four games this season and have lost their last two contests.
THE SERIES
Today marks the sixth meeting between the two schools with Saint Joseph's holding a 3-2 advantage. The series dates to December 29, 1987 when Richmond earned a 59-49 win over the Hawks in the title game of the UR Dole Pineapple Classic. Since joining the Atlantic 10, the Spiders have never defeated Saint Joseph's during the regular season. In the 2003 WNIT, Richmond topped the Hawks 56-53 in second round action.
THE COACHES
Richmond head coach Joanne Boyle is in her third year with the Spiders and has posted a 60-24 mark during that time. She has a 1-2 mark against the Hawks. Saint Joseph's head coach Cindy Griffin is in her fourth year with the Hawks and has compiled a 69-45 mark during that time. In six years as a head coach, she owns a career mark of 117-78 with an additional three years at Loyola College.
LAST TIME OUT
The Spiders defeated Duquesne for the second time this season on Thursday night, earning a 61-50 win in Pittsburgh. Senior Kate Flavin recorded her sixth double-double of the year with a 17-point, 15-rebound performance. Saona Chapman and Christina Campion also scored in double-figures for the second straight game.
