DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Richmond women's soccer went into Dayton and played the defending Atlantic 10 champions to a 0-0 double-overtime time Friday night.
Richmond played on even terms with the Flyers, only being out-shot 20-18. The Spiders went to 4-7-3 and 2-2-1 in the Atlantic 10, keeping them in the thick of the race for the six berths in the Atlantic 10 Tournament. Dayton moves to 8-3-3 and 4-1-1 in the Atlantic 10.
Richmond senior goalkeepr Kelly Kolker (McLean, Va.) made eight saves in goal in posting her second shutout of the season and the sixth of her career. Dayton keeper Niki Reed stopped seven shots in notching a shutout.
Richmond freshman Jessie Wolfe (Germantown, Md.) led the Spiders with four shots, while Carrie Holland and Annette Isham each had three.
The Spiders return to action Sunday for a key match-up with Xavier (2-3-2). With three games remaining, Richmond is one of 11 teams with a realistic shot at making the six-team Atlantic 10 Tournament. Richmond will play at Charlotte next Saturday and then return home to finish the season against Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
