Women's Soccer Continues A-10 Competition with Xavier on Sunday

University of Richmond, Va. - Following a 0-0 draw with the defending Atlantic 10 Champions on Friday night, the Spiders will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio for a Sunday afternoon face-off with the Xavier Musketeers for the fourth time in history. The Spiders and the Musketeers will begin battle for an essential Atlantic 10 victory at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at Xavier University Soccer Complex.
Currently, the Spiders lead the series 3-1 after blanking the Musketeers 2-0 the past two years. In last year's contest, Hillary Prince (the Plano, Texas) scored both goals for the Spiders off of free kicks from 20 and 40 yards out.
Xavier is currently 6-6-2 overall and 2-2-2 in Atlantic 10 and enters the match after the visiting Charlotte 49ers defeated them 3-0 in Friday night's match.
The Spiders, now 4-7-3 overall and 2-2-1 in the Atlantic 10, head into Sunday's match after a tie with the Dayton Flyers where Richmond freshman Jessie Wolfe (Germantown, Md.) led the Spiders with four shots, while Carrie Holland and Annette Isham each had three. Richmond senior goalkeeper Kelly Kolker (McLean, Va.) made eight saves in goal while posting her second shutout of the season and the sixth of her career.
The Spiders have defeated East Carolina, Old Dominion and Atlantic 10 opponents Fordham and St. Bonaventure, in addition to tying UNLV, West Virginia and, most recently, Dayton, and falling to James Madison, Oregon State, Florida Atlantic, Virginia, VCU, Duquesne, and Saint Louis.
Freshman Jessie Wolfe (Germantown, Md.) and Carrie Holland currently lead the Spiders' in both points and goals, each with three goals and eight points to their name. Sophomore Ali LeVIne (Avon, N.J.) and Prince both trail Wolfe and Holland with two goals each. In addition, seniors Isham (Denver, Colo.), Susan Darrah (Morrison, Colo.), sophomore Christine Wrublesky (Langhorne, Pa.), and freshman Susan Boyer (Paoli, Pa.) follow with one goal each.
Following Sunday's match, the Spiders will travel to Charlotte, N.C. for a first-ever match-up with new conference opponent, the Charlotte 49ers on Oct. 22.
