Richmond, Va. - The University of Richmond women's soccer team continues Atlantic 10 Conference play this weekend with matches against the Fordham Rams and the St. Bonaventure Bonnies. The Spiders face the Rams on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and the Bonnies on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at First Market Stadium.
The Spiders, now 2-7-2 overall and 0-2-0 in the Atlantic 10, opened conference play last weekend with a 1-0 loss to Duquesne in double overtime and a 3-1 loss to Saint Louis where freshman Susan Boyer (Paolie, Pa.) scored her first collegiate goal, assisted by sophomore Carrie Holland (Pittsfield, Mass.).
Currently, Fordham is 6-5-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the Atlantic 10 Conference and enters Friday's match after a 4-0 loss to conference opponent Rhode Island and a 1-0 loss to Massachusetts.
Friday's game will mark the sixth time the Rams and the Spiders have competed against each other, with the Spiders owning victories in four of the five matches. Last year, the Spiders blanked the Rams 3-0 after Olina Vidarsdottir earned two goals for the Spiders and Hillary Prince scored one goal off a penalty kick at First Market Stadium.
Sunday's match will be the Spiders' fifth meeting with the Bonnies with the Spiders holding a 3-1 edge after last year's victory at First Market Stadium where Ali LeVIne scored a goal off a corner kick shortly into the second half. The Bonnies, 1-9-0 overall and 0-2 in the Atlantic 10 Conference, enter Sunday's contest after a 2-0 loss to Massachusetts.
Currently for the Spiders, freshman Susan Boyer (Paoli, Pa.) follow with one goal each.
So far this season, the Spiders have cleared victories with East Carolina and Old Dominion, tied UNLV and West Virginia and experienced losses to James Madison, Oregon State, Florida Atlantic, Virginia, VCU, Duquesne and, most recently, Saint Louis.
Despite a string of consecutive losses, Richmond head coach Peter Albright remains optimistic about the remainder of the season and is proud of the effort and heart that his "warriors" continuously show.
"We have come a long way thus far," explained Albright. "We continue to improve our possession skills, our defending, and our improvisational ability. We have a lot of confidence in the way we play and in each other. We are tougher, more mature, and better organized. I think that we all feel that we continue to progress, individually and collectively, and that all this work and struggle will pay off down the line."

Following this weekend's contests, the Spiders will hit the road to Dayton for a match-up with the Flyers on October 14.
