RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Alexander Harper scored 10 second-half points and Richmond had one field goal in the final 9:37 Saturday as Virginia Commonwealth topped the Spiders 49-37.
The 37 points matched the school record for fewest points: New Hampshire scored 37 against the Rams on Feb. 11, 1992.
Virginia Commonwealth (4-2) never trailed. The Rams led by as many as six in the first half and had a 24-18 halftime lead.
The Spiders (4-4) pulled the lead to within 34-33 on Gaston Moliva's tip-in with 9:37 remaining. On the Rams' next possession, Harper hit a followup -- the first of five straight Virginia Commonwealth baskets -- which gave the Rams a 47-33 lead with 5:25 remaining.
Nick George led the Rams with 13 points, 11 in the first half. Harper finished with 12.
Kevin Steenberge led the Spiders with eight points, all in the first half.
Richmond committed 27 turnovers.
