Spiders Open Competition At Virginia Tech Challenge

Results
The University of Richmond track squad recorded a total of five personal bests in day one of the Virginia Tech Challenge in Blacksburg, Va., Friday, Feb. 11. The meet is scheduled to resume Saturday at 10 a.m. with the women's high jump.
Freshman Tara Markey kicked off the meet for the Spiders with a personal best in the 500 meter with a time of 1:17.97, good for sixth place in the race.
Sophomore Beth Crocus took part in one of the first field events of the meet, the weight throw, and heaved a personal best of 47-09.25 (14.56m). The Bethlehem, Pa., native garnered a 13th-place finish with the toss.
Junior Ryan Mace (6.65) and freshman Adedayo Oladejo (6.76) each took part in the 55 meter sprint, placing 36th and 45th, respectively.
Freshman Ryan Jobes and sophomore Rusty Burrell both recorded season-best times in the 500 meter. Jobes took eighth with a time of 1:06.58 and Burrell was right behind him in ninth with a time of 1:07.33.
Freshman Jonathan Molz garnered a 23rd-place finish in the 1000 meter run with a 2:40.61.
Freshman Travis Warren rounded out the day of competition for the Spiders with a triple jump mark of 43-03.00 (13.18m) to place 19th. The leap marked the first time the two-sport athlete had taken part in the triple jump event this track season.
