UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - After playing the Atlantic 10 West Division's top team on Saturday, the Spiders now travel north to face the A-10 East's best at 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Richmond has never beaten Saint Joseph's in Philadelphia's Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.
Junior Kevin Steenberge has led the Spiders of late, averaging 17.5 points in his last two games. The center scored 19 at George Washington on Saturday.
The Hawks have won five straight conference games. St. Joe's leads the all-time series 7-1 and has won each of the past two meetings.
The Spiders return home to host Temple at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Fans who bring their Ukrop's UVC or First Market Bank Market Share card to the Robins Center will receive Buy-One, Get-One tickets.
STORYLINES
*The Spiders are 1-7 all-time against Saint Joseph's, 0-4 on the road against the Hawks. This is only Richmond's second visit since joining the Atlantic 10. St. Joe's defeated Richmond, 75-59, on March 1, 2003 two years ago in Memorial Fieldhouse.
*Richmond's lone victory against St. Joe's came on Feb. 13, 2002 when the Spiders captured a 61-59 triumph in the Robins Center.
*Gaston Moliva enjoyed a career night last year against the Hawks. Moliva scored a career-high 15 points on 7-for-8 shooting from the field. He also snared six boards and produced one steal.
*The Spiders are 6-4 in the city of Philadelphia since joining the Atlantic 10 Conference for the 2001-02 season. Richmond defeated La Salle 78-71 on Jan. 26 in its only other regular-season trip to Philly this winter.
*Junior Kevin Steenberge averaged 17.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in two games last week. He shot 68.2 percent (15-for-22) from the field and 83.3 percent (5-for-6) from the charity stripe. Steenberge also had four blocks.
*The Spiders have been trailing at halftime in each of the past four games. They are 2-2 in those contests. UR is averaging a 4.5-point halftime deficit in those games.
*In two games without Jermaine Bucknor, the Spiders average 56.5 points, almost 12 below their season average (68.2). Richmond is 0-2 without the junior.
