Richmond's Smith and Crocus Among Nation's Best In The Javelin

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond track and field sophomores Lindsey Smith and Beth Crocus are among the nation's Top-20 in the javelin, according to the latest list of NCAA Division I Regional qualifiers published on www.trackshark.com.
Smith opened the season with a toss of 45.91 meters (150-07) at the Ram Invitational, March 19, to win the event. The throw, which also broke her own school record, puts her in 12th place among the national seeds.
Crocus uncorked a throw of 43.60 meters (143-00) at the Ram Invitational to place third overall. The distance placed her 19th among the national seeds.
Both are among the East Region's Top-10 with the marks. Smith is ranked fourth and Crocus is seventh.
The two Spiders will lead the Richmond squad to the CNU Invitational this weekend, April 1-2, in Newport News, Va.
