Spider Throwers Take Part In Javelin At Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas - Sophomore throwers Lindsey Smith and Beth Crocus traveled to Austin, Texas, Saturday to take part in the women's javelin at the Texas Relays. Both athletes failed to PR, but gained great experience from competing against some of the best in the nation at Frank A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas.
Smith placed 12th in the event with a 139-02 (42.42m) using her first throw of the event. Crocus did not finish far behind in 13th with a 139-01 (42.40m). Crocus notched her best throw on the third try.
The events winning toss of 186-08 (56.91m) came from Brenda Grace-Hunt of Louisiana Tech.
Smith and Crocus will continue their preparation for the NCAA Regionals, which each have already qualified for in the javelin, by competing at the Lou Onesty Invitational, April 16, in Charlottesville, Va.
