DAYTON, Ohio - Richmond's junior Ben Zeskind was named part of the Atlantic 10 Conference's All-League second team during the postseason banquet, Tuesday evening, in Dayton, Ohio. The Atlantic 10 Conference's first and second teams as well as individual league honors were selected by the Conference head coaches.
Zeskind, a native of Miami, Fla., currently leads the Spiders with a .361 average, which placed him among the Top-10 in the Atlantic 10 in the category.
One of three Spider captains on the 2005 squad, Zeskind has hit in 43 of the 49 games he has played, including a season-long hit streak of 14 games. His 20 multi-hit games lead the team, and 14 of those 20 multi-hit contests have come in his last 25 games.
Zeskind, who was named a Second Team All-Conference honoree as a freshman in 2003, has failed to reach base in only two of his 49 games played this season. The junior has not gone hitless in two-straight this season and the last time he failed to record a hit in two of three contests was Feb. 27 through March 6.
Richmond opens Atlantic 10 Championship competition Wednesday, May 25, at Fifth Third Field in Dayton, Ohio. The Spiders, seeded sixth in the six-team field, will square off in the tournament's first round against third-seeded Fordham at 3:30 p.m.
Bob Black, the voice of the Spiders, and Simon Gray will call all the Spider action in the A-10 Championships on WLEE-AM 990 or WTOX-AM 1480 in the Richmond area, contingent on game times. Broadcasts can also be heard at RichmondSpiders.com and radiorichmond.com. Gametracker, complete game livestats, will also be available at RichmondSpiders.com and Atlantic10.org.
