UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond's junior Ben Zeskind was named part of the Virginia College Sports Information Director's All-State honorable mention team, Friday afternoon.
Zeskind, a native of Miami, Fla., led the Spiders with a .365 average, which ranked him fifth in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
One of three Spider captains on the 2005 squad, Zeskind hit in 47 of the 53 games he played, including two hit streaks of six games and a season-long streak of 14 games. His 23 multi-hit games were tops on the team, while 17 of those 23 multi-hit contests came in the last 29 he played.
Zeskind, who was named a Second Team All-Conference honoree following the 2005 season, failed to reach base in only two of his 53 games played this season. The junior, who will return for his senior season at Richmond, never went hitless in two-straight games in 2005, and the only time he was hitless in two of three was from Feb. 27 - March 6.
