Women's Golf Finishes 13th At Cougar Classic

HANAHAN, S.C. - The University of Richmond women's golf team finished 13th out of 17 teams at the very competitive Cougar Classic which concluded Monday at Yeamans Hall.
Eleven of the 17 teams in the Cougar Classic played in the NCAA Regionals last spring and four of the teams earned bids to the NCAA National Championships. Richmond finished ahead of two teams that played in the NCAAs last spring, as Miami (Fla.) and South Florida tied for 16th place.
The Spiders shot a 309 in the third and final round to finish the tournament at 52-over par 916. Richmond scored a 304 in the first round Sunday morning and a 303 in the second round Sunday afternoon.
Richmond sophomore Natasha Lopez Moreira (Asuncion, Paraguay) shot a 78 on Monday to finish the tournament at 11-over par 227 (75-74-78) in a tie for 39th. Freshman Rosario Germino (Necohea, Argentina) also finished with a 227 after carding her second-straight round of 2-over par 74.
Junior Ashley Lambert (Bradenton, Fla.) shot a 79 on Monday to finish up at 13-over par 229 and in a tie for 48th place. Freshman Julia Nouss (Saint Louis, Mo.) tied for 64th at 17-over par 233 (74-81-78) and senior Whitney McComis (Bridgeport, Texas) placed 89th with a 261.
The Spiders return to action on Sept. 23 and 24 when they play in the Princeton Women's Golf Invitational in Princeton, N.J.
