Spider Baseball To Hold Fall World Series, Scout Day

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Spider baseball squad, in the midst of its five-week fall practice season will hold a two-game fall World Series, Oct. 1-2, at Pitt Field. Richmond will also hold its annual Scout Day prior to the intrasquad game Sunday, Oct. 2.
The Spiders, who finished their 2005 season by winning its opening two contests in the Atlantic 10 Tournament, return eight positional starters and seven pitchers who made at least 10 appearances last season. Senior Ben Zeskind will anchor a now-veteran defense, after being named a Second Team All-Atlantic 10 selection in 2005. Junior Rob Berzinskas, who made a team-high 14 starts last season, returns after posting 102 strikeouts in 84.0 innings of work.
Berzinskas, sophomores Brian Alas, Alex Hale and Stephen Owens along with seniors Jason Bolinski, Ja Jones and Wyatt Stewart are all scheduled to pitch in World Series games beginning at noon both days.
