Track & Field Splits Squad Between Penn State And George Mason Invitationals

The University of Richmond men's and women's indoor track & field teams split squads between the Penn State National Invitational and the George Mason Patriot Games on Saturday.
In the Penn State National Invitational, Richmond freshman Jessica Young set a pair of school records. She finished second in the 200-meter dash in a time of 24.13, breaking the previous school record by over one second. She also finished ninth in the 400 in 55.28 seconds, which broke Julie Wilson's 2004 mark of 56.36.
Richmond's women's 4x400 relay team also set a school record with a time of 3:55.18 to finish sixth. The team of Danielle Eaton, Jasmine Major, Young and Amy Thesing broke the old mark of 3:55.18 set by Sarah Stuber, Eaton, Ruth Chege and Wilson in 2003.
Freshman Paloma Krakower finished ninth in the 500 in 1:20.07, sophomore Tara Markey took 10th in 1:20.48 and Eaton was 18th in 2:17.48.
Senior Diana Morse finished ninth in the 1,000 in 2:59.76, while sophomore Kylee Schuler took 15th in the 5,000 in 17:49.49. Junior Beth Crocus placed 15th in the weight throw with a toss of 51-9.
On the men's side at the Penn State National Invitational, senior John Ciccarelli took 13th in the 3,000 in 8:36.15 and junior Rusty Burrell finished 13th in the 500 in 1:07.73. Sophomore Jonathan Molz was 15th in the 1,000 in 2:30.00.
In the Patriot Games at George Mason, freshman Karen Guthrie finished second in the 3,000 meters in 10:37.48, while junior Jenna Downey took sixth in 10:47.52. Freshman Mary Bertram took eighth in the event in 10:49.55 and sophomore Kate Merrill was 18th in 11:22.95.
Freshman Lisa Sinkovitz placed seventh in the 800 in 2:28.28 and freshman Emily Nagle took 11th in 2:30.46. Freshman Lisa Sinkovitz took 14th in the mile run in 5:31.15 and Nagle finished 18th in 5:36.31. Freshman Angelene Cicero took 17th in the 60 hurdles in 10.29 seconds.
On the men's side at the Patriot Games, sophomore Brendan Regan led a solid showing of Richmond runners in the 800 with a 12th-place finish in 2:02.67. Sophomore David Delaplaine finished 13th in 2:03.04, freshman Greg Hoffman was 15th in 2:04.21 and freshman Sean Welsh took 20th in 2:05.68.
Freshman Sean McKinney placed 12th in the 3,000 in 9:08.20, while sophomore Mike Stubbs followed in 16th (9:16.00) and sophomore Peter Norquist was 16th (9:33.59).
In the mile run, Stubbs finished 13th in 4:40.35, Norquist was 15th in 4:45.54 and freshman Dan Petty followed in 16th in 4:47.17. Richmond's 4x400 relay team placed seventh in 3:39.84.
