GLEN ALLEN, Va. - Sophomore Rosario Germino tied for 10th and the Richmond women's golf team moved up one spot to finish fourth at the Spider Fall Invitational, which concluded in a driving rain on Tuesday at Virginia Crossings Golf Club.
A driving rain hindered play Tuesday, but the Spiders shot two strokes better than their Monday total, coming in at 331 to finish the tournament at 664.
"As a team our score improved in a steady downpour, so they didn't let the weather get to them," Richmond head coach Leighann Rastede Albaugh. "But we still have a lot of work to do."
Germino carded an 80 on Tuesday to finish the tournament at 17-over-par 161 in a tie for 10th. It was Germino's second top-15 finish of the season and the third top-10 finish of her career.
Richmond senior Ashley Lambert shot an 81 for the second-straight day and finished one stroke behind Germino in a tie for 12th at 162.
Richmond freshman Victoria Kidder tied for 32nd at 171 (85-86), while freshmen Anne Sprick and Lauren Folgosa tied for 36th at 173.
Richmond also had three individuals playing in the tournament. Sophomore Kelly Pratt finished in a tie for 26th at 170, including an opening round 81 on Monday. Junior Alex Latimer tied for 58th and freshman Sarah Dinces took 67th.
Campbell's Belen Diaz Cisneros was the medalist, finishing the tournament at 7-over-par 151 (77-74) and leading her team to victory. The Virginia B team, competing as individuals, finished second.
Despite the rain on Tuesday, the 1st annual Spider Fall Invitational proved to be a success.
"I'm glad that we had all the support of our parents," Rastede Albaugh said. "It's nice to see that much support, it's a testament to the families we have."
Richmond will conclude the fall season Oct. 30-31 at the Ross Resorts Invitational at Pine Needles Country Club.
