Women's Soccer Heads North For A-10 Action; Venue And Game Time Changed For Today's Match

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond women's soccer team is heading north for a weekend of Atlantic 10 action as it prepares to face St. Bonaventure and Fordham in its final road trip of the regular season. The Spiders will travel to New York to play the Bonnies on Friday. Due to flooding, the match has been pushed back from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will now be played at Bolivar-Richburg High School in Bolivar, N.Y. The Spiders will then face the Rams on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. as scheduled.
The Spiders (1-11-2 overall, 1-4-0 in the A-10) just battled through their fourth overtime loss of the season as they fell 2-1 to the Charlotte 49ers on Saturday night, when Ashleigh Blumer netted the Spiders' only goal of the contest. Kristen Stalter, Julia Bizer and Nora Mann currently lead the Spiders in scoring with two goals apiece on the season.
St. Bonaventure (1-12-1 overall, 0-5-0 in the A-10) is coming off a 1-0 loss at La Salle on Friday and a 2-1 loss at George Washington on Sunday. Led by Kerry O'Malley with five goals, the Bonnies have lost nine-straight games and have yet to see a win in conference action.
The Spiders hold a 4-1 advantage in the Richmond-St. Bonaventure series, with the Spiders owning wins in the last two meetings, including a 4-2 victory over the Bonnies last year.
Fordham (10-4-0 overall, 4-1 in the A-10) is fresh off a 2-1 win over George Washington and a 2-1 overtime victory over La Salle. Led by Katie Sanchez with 10 goals and three assists, the Rams have won seven of their last eight games.
The Spiders control the Richmond-Fordham series as well, holding a 5-1 advantage over the Rams and have won the last three meetings between the teams, including a 1-0 victory over the Rams last season.
Following this weekend's competition, the Spiders will return home for their final two contests of regular season play. The Spiders will host Dayton on Friday, October 27 in a special senior night contest and Xavier on Sunday, October 29 in their final game of the regular season.
