UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond women's soccer team will conclude its season this weekend with A-10 rivals Dayton and Xavier. The Spiders will host the Flyers in a special senior night contest on Friday at 7:00 p.m., and will then host the Musketeers on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at First Market Stadium.
Seniors Dani Amarant, Kelsey Blank and Mairead Gordon will be honored prior to the contest.
In addition to senior night festivities, the Spiders will be raffling off $25 gift certificates to Mojo's, Banditos and Starlite Café, as well as T-shirts and autographed soccer balls.
The Spiders (2-12-2 overall, 2-5-0 in the A-10) just fought through a split weekend in New York, where they dropped 2-0 to St. Bonaventure on Friday night before overpowering Fordham, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon. Sophomores Ashleigh Blumer and Julia Bizer and freshman Kelsey Rdzanek each netted a goal to lead the Spiders to their second win of the season. Bizer currently leads the Spiders in scoring with three goals on the season.
Dayton (7-5-3 overall, 5-2 in the A-10) is coming off a 1-0 victory over George Washington on Friday and a 1-0 loss to La Salle on Sunday. Led by Caitlin Proffitt with four goals and one assist, the Flyers have won six of their last eight games and secured a fourth place tie in the A-10 standings.
Dayton leads the all-time series 5-2-1, with the teams playing to a 0-0 stalemate last year in Dayton, Ohio in front of over 1,000 fans.
Live coverage of both Friday's and Sunday's contests will be available at RichmondSpiders.com.
