Women's Soccer Hits The Road For A-10 Match-Ups

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, VA. - The Richmond women's soccer team will travel to Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia, Pa. this weekend to face George Washington and La Salle. The Spiders will face the Colonials on Friday at 3:00 p.m. and the Explorers on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
The Spiders (1-8-2, 1-1 in the A-10) are coming off their first victory of the season when Jen Ruhe notched the game-winning goal and an assist as they edged by Temple 2-1 on Sunday. Kristen Stalter, Julia Bizer and Nora Mann currently lead the Spiders in scoring with two goals apiece on the season.
The Colonials (7-5-0 overall, 0-2 in the A-10) just opened their conference slate with a 1-0 loss at Massachusetts and a 2-0 loss at Rhode Island. George Washington is led by Meg Pyle with five goals on the season.
The Spiders own a 2-1-1 advantage in the Richmond-George Washington series with the Colonials winning the last meeting between the two teams.
The Explorers (4-7-0, 1-1 in the A-10) opened A-10 play with a 1-0 loss at Rhode Island and a 3-1 victory over Massachusetts. Led by Dana Giordano with four goals and one assist, the Explorers have won three of their last five games.
The Spiders control the Richmond-La Salle series as well, holding a 3-2 advantage. The two teams last met in 2004 in Richmond where the Spiders shut out the Explorers, 2-0.
