Head Coach Chris Mooney
On the outstanding shooting by the Spiders:
"We shot the ball extremely well, which is good to see. I think we have good shooters, and that's not to say that we're going to shoot like that again or ever again. But we do have good shooters and I think we're able to get a fair amount of open shots."
On the young players on the team:
"I pleased with the talent, I'm pleased with who we have in our program and I think there's plenty to build on."
On the defensive intensity:
"We have become accustomed to really being able to control a game on defense and really make it very, very difficult for another team to score every time down. Tonight it seemed like they were able to score fairly easily. That's a major concern, because you're not going to shoot like that every night."
On the upcoming first road game at Old Dominion:
"It's an opportunity, and I hope we can go up there and play well, and as a staff we can put us in a position to play well and compete. I think we have good enough players, they're not the finished product, but they're talented enough."
Freshman David Brewster
On Getting Off To A Fast Start Shooting For The Second-Straight Game
"I just came out and wanted to give us a good spark, start it off right and bring some energy."
"My shot has been falling, I'm going keep shooting as long as it's dropping. Once I hit that first one I just feel like I'm going to have a good night.
On Getting Off To A 3-0 Start
"We have a young team, we're brand new to the college game, but so far being 3-0, we've been able to play together and we're all shooting the ball well. We can do a lot better, but I think right now with us just being able to play with each other, we're doing pretty well."
On The Difference Between High School And College
"I think the demand on running each play perfect each time, the speed of the guys coming at you hard every single night, and just having to execute every play."
On Keeping Composure When Longwood Closed The Gap
"We just basically said stick with our offense and stick with our defense. They hit some tough shots, but we stuck with our stuff and it helped a lot."
On The Team Keeping Their Composure
"I think it's just a personal mindset. Don't let the game get away from you and don't get too excited and too happy, or too down if we're losing. Just keep a level head and try to win each game."
On The Old Dominion Game Saturday
"It's going to be tough game, but we just have to go in there with the same mindset and same intensity. It's the first road game so it's going to be different. We just have to come out, run our offense, play our defense and try to win it."
Freshman Ryan Butler
On the 3-0 start for the Spiders:
"It's obviously good to get another win, but defensively, we struggled. It's a good win, to start out a season 3-0, and we just hope that we can get better defensively."
On the shooters on the team:
"Pretty much everyone on our team can shoot. We just keep getting better, we're just happy to get a win tonight."
Freshman David Gonzalvez
On the scoring streaks throughout the game:
"Sometimes we have good streaks where everybody looks good and you can see the potential in everybody. As the season goes on, we'll get better at those things and we'll start to be more consistent."
Longwood Coach Mike Gillian
On playing defense against Richmond:
"We're going to play pressure defense and work, and what are you going to give up if you do that against Richmond? Well you're going to give up some open shots and you're going to give up some back-door lay-ups."
On the Richmond shooting performance:
"Give those guys a little credit, you could be in the gym by yourself, and you're not going to shoot like that, not every day anyway."
Maurice Sumter
On the effectiveness of their defense against the Richmond shooters:
"It's kind of frustrating to a point where you're putting hands up, they're still hitting them, they're open, they're hitting them. It's like, what do we do now?"
