UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond men's basketball team will host Tulane on Thursday at 7 p.m. as part of a Robins Center doubleheader with the Spider women's team. The Richmond women's team hosts Marshall at 4:30 p.m.
The Spiders are 4-6 after a loss to Wake Forest on Dec. 22 in Winston-Salem, N.C. Richmond led by as many as 15 points late in the first half and had a 13-point halftime lead, but Wake Forest would come back to win.
Richmond's six freshmen continue to improve, playing probably their best half of the season in the first half. Freshman Dan Geriot was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week after tying a career-high with 21 points against Wake Forest.
Geriot leads the team in scoring at 14.2 points per game. Five of Richmond's top-six scorer's are freshmen and all six freshmen are averaging at least 13 minutes per game.
Tulane enters the game at 6-4, having alternated wins and losses in its last seven games. The Green Wave are coming off a 70-68 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Dec. 22.
This will be the fourth meeting between the two schools and Tulane leads the all-time series between the two schools, 2-1. The teams split the first two meetings in 1975 and 1976 and Tulane won last year in New Orleans.
