Richmond Head Coach Chris Mooney
On The Game
"In the second half I saw a lot of good things, we were competitive, but that stretch in the first half - maybe stretch isn't the word for it because it was longer - that really hurt us. In the second half I thought there was some competitiveness and fight, we saw some good signs for us as a basketball program. We showed toughness, competitiveness and fight, things we needed to see more of."
On Richmond's Rebounding
"Other than not making shots, the only glaring thing at halftime was we were out-rebounded 21-6. Had that rebounding number not been that great, even if we hadn't scored anymore, it would have been a much closer game."
On Not Getting The Ball Inside The Last 15 Minutes Of The First Half
"They were playing man-to-man the first five possessions and we scored all five, then they switched to zone and they're trying to make you throw the ball around the outside. We are committed to throwing the ball inside as you saw in the first five minutes. All in all, we need to be more aggressive. The second half was better, but during the middle portion of the first half, it was pretty glaring that we were a little bit on our heals."
On Facing William & Mary's Zone
"Again with a young team, we hadn't seen much of that (3-2) zone."
Richmond Freshman Brian Morris
On The Game
"We were a little bit better in the second half. We had shots in the first half, we just didn't make them. Even in the second half we weren't playing very fluidly, our offense wasn't running the way we drew it up. We were kind of getting confused a bit by the 3-2 zone and them switching defenses."
On Richmond Offensively
"Today was a little different, they were switching it up on defense, pressing, going back into a zone and playing man-to-man. Our man stuff was running pretty well, unfortunately it took until the second half to get our zone stuff to run. That being said we had some open looks that we should have made. That's why we got down 27-13.
William & Mary Coach Tony Shafer
On Changing Defenses
"They had a great first five minutes against our man-to-man, so we probably went to zone a little faster than we would have liked to. I thought our players did a nice job changing defenses and doing it effectively."
On The Tribe's Confidence
"Our guys walk on the floor with a whole different level of confidence right now. There's not one guy who doubts we can be successful."
