This was the first official loss to St. Bonaventure for the Spiders. The Bonnies did defeat Richmond 61-55 in 2003, but the game was later declared a forfeit due to St. Bonaventure using an ineligible player. The Spiders lead the series 5-1 and the two teams will meet again on March 4 in the Robins Center.
Senior Kevin Steenberge blocked three shots Sunday, moving him into sole possession of second on Richmond's all-time list for career blocks with 137. He has 54 blocks this season, which ranks fifth on the school's single-season list, two behind Jeff Pehl (1979-83). Steenberge would need 46 blocks to tie Richmond's all-time shot blocking leader Tim Faulconer (1998-02), who had 183.
Steenberge just missed a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. It was Steenberge's 11th game in double figures this season and the 34th double-figure game of his career.
Steenberge, who is ninth on Richmond's all-time list for career field goal percentage, made seven of 10 shots from the field. He is shooting 52.9 percent from the field for his career.
