Even after giving up a season-high 80 points, Richmond is holding teams to 55.2 points per game.
Senior Kevin Steenberge posted his first double-double of the season and the third of his career with 15 points and 10 rebounds. It was the second double-double of the season posted by a Spider. Jermaine Bucknor had 14 points and 11 rebounds in the season-opening win over Hampton.
Steenberge blocked two shots to give him 133 for his career which is tied for third on Richmond's all-time career list with Johnathan Collins (1999-03). He needs two more blocks to tie Jeff Pehl (1979-83) for second on the all-time list. Steenberge has 50 blocks this season, which is the fifth-best single-season performance by a Spider. Six more blocks would tie him for fourth on the single-season list with Pehl, who had 56 blocks in 1981-82.
Junior Gaston Moliva tied a season high with three blocks to give him 97 for his career. Moliva is fifth on the school's all-time career list.
